SPORTFISHING ( THE BIG GAME)

 This
coast on the pacific side of Costa Rica is vary famous for its rich fishing.
There are more than 20 species available for the sport fisherman. The most
important are represent by the sail fish, black and blue marlin, mai-mai,
rooster fish, yellow tuna, amberjack, spanish mackarel (between others), pasific
cubera, jacks family, rainbow runner, bull shark and red snapper.

Our captains & mates are the most experience
sea man in the area, with years working in sportfishing. We have three
good spots for fishing depending on the timing and forecast.
Papagayo North (Bat Island) – 25 nautic-miles NE from
Coco Beach, rooster,
sailfish, black marlin, wahoo, cubera snapper,
sharks, amberjack, good for ground fishing.
30 Millas – 30 miles SW from Coco Beach
on the drop off 500 to 1000
feet deep, sailfish, blue marlin, mai-mai,
yellowfin tuna. Catalinas – 5 miles west from Coco Beach,
mai-mai, small tuna, wahoo, mackarel, roosterfish, jack crevalle.

Location and access in the northern part
of Costa Rica on the Guatuso plains, 3 ½ hr drive from hotel Flor
de Itabo by car. in the center of the refuge is Caño Negro Lagoon,
fed by the Frio, Monico and Caño Negro river covering more than
2000 acres to a depth of 27 feet during the rainy season when the area
gets up to 158 inches of rain. during the dry season, rainfall all but
disappears and the great lake turns into a labyrinth of lagoons, channels
and islands.
This region is an angler paradise throughout
the year. the lagoon and its tributary rivers abound around with the biggest
tarpon you're likely to find anywhere, along with snook, machaca, rainbow bass
and gar
Our lodging there is very rustic, rooms
are for 2 – 4 persons, we used mosquito nets for our clients and there's one bathroom for all clients.
Tour includes breakfast, lunch, dinner,
drinks, boat, transfer, captain (guide), fishing gear. if clients want
to fly fish they must bring their gear.
